A little teary-eyed this morning, but always inspired after - TopicsExpress

A little teary-eyed this morning, but always inspired after watching Jim Sinclair defend and support teachers. Ive wanted to be a teacher since I was little, and this year, I begin my 8th year, but I never thought that I would feel the need to defend what I do to so many people, or to have to look up to and be inspired by people who VALUE PUBLIC EDUCATION. We have stood on those picket lines for weeks, FOR STUDENTS who deserve more (and that should be obvious now, given the wage increase we received) and heard some of the meanest, thoughtless things thrown at us (and objects), some by parents who will all-to-eagerly send their children back to us next week. So before I go vote yes to a pretty poor deal that does not begin to give students what they deserve, Id like to say THANK YOU to those of you who have gotten involved, who have been supportive, and who have taken a more active role in public education. And I would also like to say, that despite this dysfunctional relationship between the BCTF and the BC Liberals and the obvious disinterest in public education from our Premier, I would not waste a second thinking about whether or not to send my daughter to public school. I love public schools, and I have NOTHING but respect for the teachers who will stand up for their students, for what they deserve and who will give up everything to take a stand and fight for what is right. And I want my daughter to be taught by people like that. globalnews.ca/video/1569728/bc-teachers-dispute-union-leader-jim-sinclair-weighs-in-on-deal/
