A little toot of my own horn... because who else will do it? :-) I have been awarded my first First Place -- in the Natural Pictorial - Color category -- in the Creative Camera Clubs 44th Annual Print Competition & Exhibition for my July 2014 photo of Dunloup Falls in Thurmond, WV. I also won Second Place in the Hand of Man - Black & White category with my photo of the 1947 Talbot Lago T-26 Cabriolet taken at the 2014 Keeneland Concours dElegance in Lexington. I do my own printing, mat cutting, & framing -- everything except cutting conservation glass -- for my entries. Im very lucky -- remember the decisions made by a panel of outside professional photographers are subjective -- to have a total of eight awards over the five years I have participated. This show is open to all club members -- from beginners to advanced & professional photographers. Im in good company!. The Creative Camera Clubs 44th Annual Print Competition & Exhibit is on display until February 27th at the Downtown Arts Center, 141 East Main Street in Lexington. The gallery, above Alfalfa (the restaurant is closed until January 26th), is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 am until 5 pm. The opening reception will be held this coming Friday evening from 5 pm until 8 pm in conjunction with the downtown Gallery Hop. I hope my local friends will take this opportunity to view about 160 excellent photographs of interesting subjects in Kentucky and beyond. And there will be delicious treats for free!
