A little update on Cherub #1..... I arrived in Boca on Wednesday & was met by a discharge planner who wanted to discuss placement options following his pending tracheotomy on Thursday. At this time, said planner also mentioned that my child may need long term care, in a nursing facility. Before I left for the evening, I told my son about the procedure to be performed the next day. And then.......after we left, he ripped out his breathing tube. He continues to breathe largely on his own with minimal oxygen support. He is alert at times & able to speak with me tho still sedated & he is getting stronger by the hour. We are currently waiting on EEG results & an MRI this afternoon. Never give up hope, so much can change in 24 hours. Much love to all. Xox, MAE
