A little while back, a friend whom I meet for lunch once a month, - TopicsExpress

A little while back, a friend whom I meet for lunch once a month, told me, I have something that the only person I know who would want them would be you. I had an uncle who in Cuba was a lawyer but when he left and came to Miami in the early 60s, he went to work in the kitchen of the Fontainebleau Hotel, and like so many refugee families at the time, their kitchens became furnished in part from the hotel that employed them. After my aunt and uncle passed away, I found these in her garage....my wife will call them junk, but I know you will appreciate them. I was only too happy to have them. Miami Beachs Fontainebleau Hotel was and still is the epitome of Miami Modern (MiMo) architecture. A curved building designed by renowned architect Morris Lapidus on the site of the former Harvey Firestone estate on the ocean. To a Miami boy like me, they are treasures....from the era when the Rat Pack and other stars frequented the hotel....why, Frank Sinatra, Mitzi Gaynor, Cyd Charisse, Dean Martin or Ann-Margaret may have drank from any of them! the highball glasses we found were the perfect size for a Christmas morning mimosa with brunch....
