A little while back a lady came up to me and told me that she had done me wrong. She was in tears and said that she regretted what she had done and her words filled my heart with sympathy and forgiveness. Another woman at a different time told me that she thought that I hated her and/or her husband. I said that was wrong, but she was lost, confused, angry and bitter. She was blind to my love and sympathy for their situation and suffering. Bad feelings towards others separates us from the truth so that we react wrong and make matters worse. The first woman I instantly forgave and from the look on her face she was happily surprised. Friendship was regained and all forgotten on the spot. I have to admit I was very happy at the speed I forgave and forgot, it made me feel that all bad feelings were gone and replaced with goodwill. I saw a lot of revenge as a child and I greatly disliked it. No love and repairing of relationships can come from revenge. Revenge only brings more anguish, pains and sufferings. Only people with bad attitudes will use revenge. It seems that many of our disagreements are misunderstandings. People have their own views and they wont see anything but what they believe is true - even though the evidence is very clear to others. I was talking to a lady just a day or so ago and she was telling me how the door to her home is always open to repair relationships etc. My home is like that too. I want friends and that can only come by being a good friendly person and following the example that impressed me the most and that was the example of Jesus. Kind, generous, loves everyone and forgiving. I love what President Lincoln said about making getting arid of an enemy by making them a friend. Lets all do that. All the best from James M Sandbrook.
