A lot of conversation has been going on in Pakistan about Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan. But to really understand what is going on you have to actually look elsewhere: The corrupt leaders of the Pakistani Army Imran Khan is probably the first non-criminal candidate to run for office in Pakistan in a long time. Because of this, many people have hope in him. However, he has the same issue that Morsi in Egypt had, which is that even if he were to win he would have no real power. It is because of this many people find him to be incompetent, and lacking a plan, and not delivering on his promises, because really the power is not in that position. In Pakistan, the real power rests in the hands of its military. Whenever things go in a direction the Pakistani Army doesnt want, they will intervene, either directly or indirectly. So when Nawaz Sharif says he will get into talks with the Taliban, the army ignores him and continues to combat terrorism instead of focusing on the external threats of nations like India. Or when they remove the barriers in red-zone in Pakistan to make it easier for the protests to happen. Of course things arent going the way they should, so they are changing this again. Even historically, when you have someone like Musharraf forcibly take-over a civilian government with military power. All of this makes clear, the biggest issue in Pakistan is where the power lies, which is in the leadership of the army. And the leadership of the army continues to serve the interests of the US government, just like the Egyptian army leadership does. If we dont want a repeat of what happened in Egypt to also happen in Pakistan, the Muslims of Pakistan need to start looking not at Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan, but at Chief General Raheel Sharif, successor of General Kayani and his other stooges. The nation of Pakistan is not owned by the US, and the people of Pakistan are not slaves to the US government. So their army should not sell out the people to help the US government, rather they should work with the people to liberate them from colonial ties to the US and focus on systems of justice and Islam.
