A lot of folks think Mustang when you mention Shelby Cobra. THIS is a Shelby Cobra; the original was a Ford engine in a British Ace body and frame. They were made from 1962-67, I think. There were quite a few continuation models built over the last 15-20 years, and we saw what was probably one of those today tooling around Maple Valley - very tame driving, unfortunately. Nothing like the video, which shows the actual potential of the 2,000lb., 427-cubic-inch engine vehicle. :-) For many of us, this was the epitome of sports car. The continuation models can be had in the neighborhood of $100k; the originals are a bit pricier, ranging from $1-5M. Anyone who wants the full story, search for A/C Cobra on Wikipedia. Lots of fascinating details, including some shenanigans by Shelby himself at one point in time. :-) (Bill Cosby owned one of those, I think it was the dual-turbo ones; his 200mph bit was based on the single time he drove the car.)
