A lot of occult teachings are actually very easily understood and applied to daily life after you get past the learning curve. Meditation, mysticism, and mythology are frequently written about by occultists. I have seen these exact same topics taken from the context of the Supernatural and reworded for widely accepted self-discipline books, self-help books, and spiritual awakening books. I guess what it really comes down to is preference.. but I encourage you not to look down on material immediately because of the context. I found Aleister Crowleys work (One of the most profoundly wise authors I currently know of) because of a short lived interest I had in studying demonic grimoires. Many would instantly assume that a Demonic grimoire is evil but I quickly found that there is nothing inherently evil about it. They dont tell you to hurt people or commit acts of violence and not a single one I read mentioned animal sacrifice. It was more along the lines of becoming immensely conscious of your own demons and taking control of them so they dont take control of you and your actions. These principles would be praised in a different context but are often looked down upon when presented in a book written by an occultist (By those that havent read it of course).
