A lot of people ask me if I only paint on wood. The answer is no. I paint on canvas, aluminum sheets, diamond plate, paper, wood, conks, anything that has a surface that allows me to create on. I dont always paint either I draw, sew, embroidery, crochet, watercolor, chalk, ink, marker, charcoal, glass, rocks, sidewalks, murals, interior, the list goes for days......I freehand everything! No tracing or art aides to assist me only because I dont know how to use a lot of those things plus cost plus Ive come this far why change now? I like my style my freedom to drift with what I have. I choose wood more often because of many reasons first I can sand it smells amazing and clean fresh new thats a rush all in itself! Secondly I can drill into it make holes or add jewelry to a piece glue things to it link painting together many many options as a multi medium artist I need lots of options! Lol thirdly and second most importantly to me is the durability of my piece. Since I only do originals one each I want it to last! So I ALWAYS do 3 layers of paint so it soaks deep into the wood. I seal it afterwards now it can go through a series of accidents I know! Lol been there many times! It doesnt bend or stretch out dent that sort of thing. I use all non toxic materials so even a baby can handle it if they get a hold of one lol. And the 4th reason I LIVE IN OREGON where wood is vast!
