A lot of people ask us “What can I do to help the BHRA and the Hounds?” There are a number of ways that people can help us and help the hounds. Some are not nearly as involved as others. If you want to volunteer to help out, especially with the first two, send us a message and we can get you in touch with the right person. 1. Adopt. This one is the most obvious. If you see a hound that would be a great fit for your home, you can put in an application and make them a part of your family. We will do a home visit at your convenience and make sure everything is good. If you are interested in adopting or have questions, email [email protected] or send us a message here on Facebook. 2. Foster. A step down from adopting is fostering. Once you’ve filled out the application and a home visit has been done, we find you a foster hound. We work hard to match our dogs to fosters who have certain lifestyles or needs. You take care of the dog by feeding it, socializing it, figuring out its “quirks”, and loving on it. We’ll post the pictures you take of the dog and find an adopter. If you’re interested, we find you another dog and the process starts over. The rescue provides medical care and what supplies we can. If this is something that interests you email [email protected] or contact us via Facebook. 3. If the previous two are a bit too involved for you, you might try volunteering. We have many opportunities to volunteer and they’re usually not more than a few hours of commitment. We occasionally have need for volunteers to transport hounds, or to foster over night, or get a dog to the vet, or help with a fund raiser. These needs are posted on our social media accounts when we have them. We also love to hear about fund raising and volunteer opportunities. Share those with us on Facebook or email us at [email protected]. 4. Purchase from us. If you want to show off your support for the BHRA, you can consider purchasing from our store. We have pictures of the items posted here in our “Store” photo album. You can pick your item and your sizes and we’ll create the shirt or item for you. All of the items are made by volunteers and so all of the proceeds go to help the hounds. Send us a message if you’re interested in purchasing or helping with the store. 5. Gifts. If you don’t have the time to volunteer or are worried about bringing in a dog, we have the opportunity to for you to help us as well. We are always in need of funds to help the dogs. As an all volunteer rescue, 100% of all proceeds and supplies go to help the rescue dogs. A tax deductible donation can be made via paypal at this link bhra.org/donate-pay-fees.htm. We also have an Amazon wish list where you can order supplies to be sent directly to us. These items are given out amongst the foster homes and go to benefit the dogs in foster care. If you use the Amazon portal on our website (BHRA.org and click on the Amazon picture on the right side), a portion of your entire purchase will be donated to the BHRA. So whether you’re buying a shirt, a book, or a new television, a portion of the purchase will help us help hounds. 7. Finally, if you want to help but none of the above options work for you, please keep sharing our posts and photos. We are always looking for Facebook followers to share our pictures and the hounds in need. You might not be able to help right now, but maybe you know someone who can.
