A lot of people have asked me When did I know I was gay? - well I *knew* for as long as I could remember but it was my summers in college spent working in the incredibly progressive Southern city of Atlanta where I knew it was gonna be alright. Ill never forget the moment I saw for the very first time two men holding hands like it was no big deal one beautiful night at a Seal concert at Chastain Park in 1996 and not a soul around them had a problem with it. It changed my life. Atlanta has always been a beacon of tolerance and acceptance in a region of the country where there is still so much work left to be done on the path towards true equality. I have many friends still living there - gay, straight allies and everything in between. If you are free next Wednesday, Oct 29, please come out an support the amazing organization Ive had the pleasure of being involved with for several years now whose mission is to change those hearts and minds towards full equality not just in the South but beyond. And thanks to our hosts Mimi McCain, Frank Mendez and the rest of the amazing ATL Leadership Council who have worked so tirelessly for GLAAD and to my friends Sam Champion, Rubem Robierb, Fortune Feimster, Willis Watts, Geoffrey Greene, Jason Brawner Walker and many many more for already signing on to help make this a night to remember. Hope to see you at the Estate next Wednesday in Hotlanta!
