A lot of people have been asking me about all of the doctor - TopicsExpress

A lot of people have been asking me about all of the doctor appointments Ive been having lately, so I decided to just say whats going on. if you dont want to read all this, the bottom line is that I am fine...Since early September, I have been living with tremendous pain in the right hemisphere of my head. No, its not like a headache or migraine, no, I knew this pain was different. I first saw the dentist, thinking it may have been caused by my teeth...like a root canal was needed or something, but that wasnt it. Then, after several general doctors and three different prescriptions of antibiotics, the pain was getting much worse. Debilitating. I was literally riving in pain on the floor, considering taking a knife to cut out the pain because it would last for up to an hour straight. It didnt come in waves, it simply lasted at full strength for a couple of seconds to an hour with no warning signs, no rhyme or reason, no common circumstances. I would be jolted out of a deep sleep in tremendous pain and nothing soothed it at all. And these pain attacks, as I called them, became more frequent. Finally, they sent me for a CT scan, and as a result located a mass in my sinus and a tumor in my throat...tonsil to be exact. After seeing the ENT and dealing with these findings, the doctor was not convinced that any of this was the causes of my pain. So, I was sent to a neurologist, and he almost immediately diagnosed me with trigeminal neuralgia and prescribed a pretty heavy-duty drug (not for pain, but to repair the damage to the nerves). I have been on this medication for almost two weeks, and with a few minor side effects, it seems to be working and the pain attacks have not been present for several days now. I am still seeing doctors regarding the tumor and such, but that will take longer to work out. In fact, I am going to essentially start all over on that front because I dont feel my ENT doctor is best for me and I am getting a second opinion. So, I have been dealing with two separate and unrelated health issues that both happen to be in my head (begin jokes now), and if it wasnt for the pain from the nerve issue, who knows how long it would have been till the tumor was located? I will keep you posted, but I am not worried. It was found really early and I will likely have my tonsils out. Without a biopsy, theres no way of knowing if its cancer or not, so I am living with the notion that its not. I am mostly glad that the pain is gone and I can go on with my life. So there it is. No need to worry, but thanks for showing you care!
