A lot of people, including my friends and even some that are physicians, ask me what is Sotos Syndrome.that Max has. Well, this is somewhat complicated, discovered in mid 90s in Japan and only one institution in the USA does any research at all. Here it is in a Readers Digest form: Sotos syndrome is a genetic condition that causes physical overgrowth and developmental delays during the first years of life. Children with Sotos syndrome are often taller, heavier and have larger heads than their peers. Sotos syndrome is sometimes called cerebral gigantism because of the distinctive head shape and size. Typically, children with Sotos syndrome also have delayed motor, cognitive and social development as well as low muscle tone and marked speech impairment. As the child matures, many of these gaps narrow: the rate of growth slows down, muscle tone improves and with it speech and other motor skills improve. Now, it doesnt say how lovable, kind, hardly responds to any pain stimuli, and more but like I said before, how blessed am I and I never knew God loved me so much, for he gave me Max. This will always be my Christmas present. I couldnt ever ask for anything better.
