A lot of people wanted copies of my poem I said for you so here it is... A Walk Down Memory Lane 2865 Yorktown Dr. was my address yours a few doors down I can’t remember how we met because it was so long ago, Begging my parents to go outside and play with Spencer and Steven Paul. Go Kelsey go my mom would scream from the hall I knew you before anyone else and who you really are, sweet, caring, Loving, genuine, and as goofy as can be. I’ll never forget that silly laugh for it will live inside of me. We explored and Terrorized up and down Yorktown Dr. Switching our neighbors mail every now and then from time to time Little did we know what we called fun was really itty bitty crimes Playing at that pond that was in your backyard to picking Those orange fruits I never knew the name for Remember when I got that trampoline? You back flipped right off the side My mom fussed at us and said only one at a time Of course we didn’t listen and that day I broke my arm I used to stay punished and couldn’t go out to play Then there were little knocks can Kelsey come outside My mom would say no but Steven come on inside There were many phone calls between our homes Can you send him or can you send her home We played sports, learned how to ride bikes and skate We use to fight just about everyday There you would go crying “momo Kelsey hit me in the face” Then here she would come Kelsey you hit Steve? Not even ten minutes later he was coming back for more Holidays and school breaks your family couldn’t get rid of me And mine the same with you But both families, they already knew I use to come to this church with you Play and run around Here we would get fussed at yall go and sit down Those were the good old days and days I’ll truly miss We were family, you like a brother and me like a sis Even though from time to time you would try and sneak a kiss Your Momo use to wish us into being boyfriend and girlfriend Yall are going to get married she would say time and time again As life went on we still remained friends Elementary school to middle school The summers we would live for More kids our age were moving in in across the street and right next door Every day we would meet up whose house will it be today? Music, dancing, clowning, and basketball games We lived in our own little world Finally it was time for high school I thought I would finally catch a break You went to baton Rouge High, me I went to McKinley That didn’t last long at all, here you would come running up to me I’m going to McKinley too I laughed and said dang will I ever get rid of you? High School came and went we headed on different paths That didn’t change a thing You would let me know for sure “Kelsey I love you “you use to always sing My response “I love you too Steve” If wishing could give me another chance I’d give you one more hug Maybe never let you go Some may wonder why that is because I wasn’t there Who is she what’s her name some will stop and stare Honestly you’ll never understand so I don’t really care Our memories I will always hold very close and dear I have so many few and far between This day so soon I could have never predicted are seen Time waits on no one if you blink it’ll pass you Just fly right on by Now it’s time to say see you later because I don’t like goodbyes Love always, Kelsey M.
