A lot of you rappers are mad or upset because your not at SXSW, Im tired of seeing how pissed you are cause you arent there or someone didnt pull through, Well...lets break this down for you. See people are paying to perform, i know the prices, hell i could have sold slots & made a lot of money but no (its ridiculous for reasons Ive stated before), Theres people who are close to you or you think they are close that will sell you 20 or 30 min performance spots, will it pay off...probably not because a 99.9999999% of the people are there to see other artists. I think its funny that a lot of people Suggest or Mention that its in the artists best interests to get to SXSW considering they are working with people that dont have the money which also shows that yes...its a money grab for that person thats selling you or they are trying to better themselves with the people that are running the event to make it look like they have a draw (this is called faking it until you make it by using other peoples money to get them to where there going). So lets do the math, between Hotels, Shopping, Travel, Food, Extra Curricular activities your looking at minimum $10,000 for about 3/4 Days & Im being generous (Ive done the math, Ive travelled etc, figured out various budgets) Now...your going to be going up against a few labels who HAVE A BUDGET TO MAKE YOU DISAPPEAR. As in they will drown you in paper so that YOU dont matter..im not talking 15k IM TALKING 55k just so you arent seen at any event ACROSS THE NATION. Do you think this industry runs on dreams? no its runs on the ability to create capital & you will not be DISCOVERED, I AM NOT RULING OUT THE POSSIBILITY THAT IT CANT HAPPEN, It happened with LIL SNUPE he got famous the last time i checked though he wasnt with meek mill 24-7 instead still trying to put food on the table for his family & playing video games but had one of the largest grossing INDY mix tapes on Live. A lot of dudes can be FAMOUS but are they going to get paid... or are they N-O So do you have 65,000$ in disposable income? do your investors? DOES ANYONE YOU KNOW HAVE THAT MONEY FOR EACH EVENT OR ALL STAR WEEKEND. And you wonder why nothing happens? but notice how the regular people that got you there keep getting people there...they dont...how can i say...help you. Because Its a hustle to better themselves, they do this and that and say YOU HAVE TO BE THERE FOR THIS DREAM TO WORK!!! No....you dont have to be there for YOUR dream to work YOUR THERE SO THAT YOUR DOING THE WORK FOR THEM TO LIVE THERE DREAM AND YOUR PAYING FOR IT. Every Artist I Work with that has had the thought they were going to make something for themselves at SXSW has been told NO & YOUR NOT GOING TO SXSW for a bunch of reasons. SXSW is Made for the FAMOUS PEOPLE TO GET MORE FAMOUS. Read Between the lines. This isnt being said to affect the business of SXSW, GO TO SXSW SPEND A TON OF MONEY AT THE VENDORS AND BUY LOTS OF STUFF TO PROPEL AUSTINS ECONOMY, HELP THE CITY BUILD. Just dont go there paying for someone else selling you a dream. Its terrible...and more and more of you are getting screwed every day on some b.s dream. Its now affecting your Facebook Status, your relationship with your gf, wife, fiancé (BECAUSE THE MONEY IS RUNNING OUT), if you have kids it will affect them & yes...IT AFFECTS YOU & YOUR PASSION TO SUCCEED. Im about Long Money & doing my best to spend it the right way so that it pays off in the end & living long enough to enjoy it without having to hate everything around me because i made stupid decisions, thats what Im about...and i will do my best to make sure you as artists live the same way, because in 5-10 years you wont look back and hate my guts because i sold you a dream & took advantage of a thing called HOPE. SO IF YOUR NOT AT SXSW ITS FINE, RELAX. Big Steve Gee I also do not need to state but Im going to that an artist i know is NOT AT SXSW instead hes with a high profile rapper getting his life straight which he did not pay 55k to do. Slow & Steady we are winning the race & i will make sure he goes above and beyond each and every one of b.s bottom of the barrel scraping people that take advantage of great people that are trying to live out their dream. this might not get as many shares or likes as the next man but at least the people that read this will understand what the industry & its events are about
