A love story: RIP sweet Annabelle, you came to rescue a tiny, skinny , senior who only needed a place to feel loved. Your new family exceeded our expectations for you. Run free little girl, thank you for coming our way. We are Better because of you #################### Noel and I bonded so intensely I felt feelings for her like never before. She clung to me like a baby rhesus monkey. When she stopped eating this weekend, we made a trip to asher hospital, then my local vet the next day. Her kidneys were in end stage failure. Though unlikely to succeed, we made a last ditch effort to revive them by IV fluid therapy. For 36 hrs I counted 10 drops per minute on a micro drip at home as I held her and kissed her tiny dust mite head. I gave her IV medications at intervals so she could drink water without vomiting, as she was very thirsty. The follow up chemistry yesterday showed all of our efforts were too late. Knowing she would become sicker throughout the night I knew I had to prevent further suffering. She died in my arms last evening by euthanasia. She was a bright shooting star across my dark dark sky and I will never be the same. My world is shattered, but I would not trade the way she made me feel for anything. If I made her feel a fraction of the love I felt, then I am satisfied. I had named her Annabelle. The photo is of her final moment. This was one of the few hikes Noel was able to come along on. It was cold outside, but she was sitting on a hot water bottle inside the carry pouch and was very comfortable. I miss her so much. I never expected to fall so hard so quickly. I love each one of my dogs intensely, but there was a quality about her that went to my core. I know my soul will search for her forever. I hope she comes to find me again some day.
