A lovely post from one of our Steering Committee members, Kyle Scott Wiley! Happy Veterans Day! Today, not only am I keeping those who have served or are currently serving in mind, but also a woman who has fought a totally different battle. Today would be the 66th birthday of Elizabeth Glaser, founder of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. In 1981, Elizabeth underwent a blood transfusion while suffering complications during birth. Later, the Glaser’s discovered that not only Elizabeth, but also both of her children contracted HIV. Elizabeth, with the help of two friends, made it their goal to create awareness about pediatric HIV/AIDS. Even 19 years after her death, Elizabeth’s legacy still lives on. Support the fight for an HIV/AIDS free tomorrow.
