A lovely review from our client, Oxfarm Aus! This is what she says about us! Sharon Settecasse “Quality translators ” Endear was part of a team of three translators who supported more than 20 young people from Laos, Vietnam, Australia, Phnom Penh, Kratie and Rattanakiri in Cambodia who took part in a 4-dayworkshop in June 2014 as part of Oxfam’s Mekong Regional Water Governance Program. The selection of high quality translators was essential to help achieve the aim of the workshop, which was to provide a safe and enabling space for young people to share their experiences, knowledge and skills on youth participation in water governance and extractive industries and to inform the design of Oxfam’s youth pilot. Throughout the workshop, Endear performed tasks of simultaneous translation, written translations, real-time translation. Endear displayed key elements to being a high quality translator: awareness – ability to read what people needed which allowed her to coordinate other translators, responsibility – she was on time and prepared, flexibility – she successfully took on translation in a variety of situations under changing circumstances, exceptional people skills – ensuring people were comfortable and included. Endear had a great impact on the workshop in the sense that she embodied women’s leadership. She is highly competent in English skills and was proactive in increasing her knowledge of technical words. I would not hesitate to recommend Endear for work in translation and interpreting services. I met Thavry once as part of a scoping interview process. She has a strong command of written and spoken English, is personable, professional, ambitious and intelligent. Her confidence and curiosity are traits that she possesses that naturally led to in-depth conversations of complex concepts. Both Endear and Thavry are highly professional and I would not hesitate recommending them for work in a range of environments and mediums; from grassroots level conversations to policy-level meetings in formal settings.
