A major UN conference on climate change continues in Lima, Peru, having opened on Monday with a call for climate action and momentum towards a new universal agreement to be adopted in 2015, by the UN’s top climate official. “2014 is likely to be the hottest year on record and emissions continue to rise. We must act with urgency,” said Christiana Figueres at the opening of the Conference of the Parties (COP 20) to the landmark UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
