A major storm rolled into Indiana Dunes State Park from the north - TopicsExpress

A major storm rolled into Indiana Dunes State Park from the north on October 31, 2014. Beginning at the base of Mt Holden, and heading east, past Beach House Blowout, the entire foredune was cut in half, with 6-9 foot sand cliffs now present the entire stretch. The sand cliffs pick up again near Furnessville blowout and also at Big Blowout. These photos certainly illustrate the power of wind and water on sand, and are a reminder that the dunes we love to climb up and slide down are part of an ever-changing ecosystem. Wow!
