A man has been arrested after patrols managed to box in his ute at traffic lights and safely end a police pursuit overnight. The red Holden ute was spotted by a patrol travelling at high speed on the Northern Expressway, Andrews Farm at about 12.10am. The pursuit was immediately terminated due to safety reasons, however, the police helicopter was called in to assist. The chopper located the suspect vehicle a short time later on Port Wakefield Road and took control of the pursuit. Air crew directed patrols on the ground into position to surround the ute while it was stationary at a red light at the intersection of Elder Smith Drive and Main North Road, Mawson Lakes. The manoeuvre safely brought the pursuit to an end, with the driver quickly arrested without incident. The 32-year-old Munno Para West man was charged with drive in a dangerous manner and engage in police pursuit and had his vehicle impounded for 28 days.
