A man has been arrested following two suspicious incidents in South Tyneside. The first incident happened at 10am on Thursday, September 12, when a man in a black car stopped and spoke to a 24-year-old-woman on Sutton Way, South Shields, and then drove off. The second incident happened at 8.15am on Saturday, September 14, when a man in a black car stopped at a bus stop at Stanhope Road and spoke to a 26-year-old woman, and then drove off. A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct. Neighbourhood Inspector Peter Sutton said: "We understand that incidents of this nature can cause concern for local communities and that there have been rumours circulating on social media. "I would like to reassure people that a man has been arrested." Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
