A man has been charged over an alleged assault at a party in Orange at the weekend. About 11:55pm on Saturday (25 January 2014), a 19-year-old man was at a house party on Honeyman Drive when he was asked to leave the premises. He was followed outside the home by a man who allegedly struck him once to the side of the head. As a result of the assault the 19-year-old man was knocked unconscious and fell to the ground where he struck his head on the road. Police and NSW Ambulance Paramedics were called to the scene and the injured man was taken to Orange Base Hospital with serious head injuries. He was later airlifted to Westmead Hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in a critical but stable condition. Police from Canobolas Local Area Command conducted investigations into the assault and about 4pm yesterday (Sunday 26 January 2014) attended a house in Cumnock where they arrested a 20-year-old man from Bargara in Queensland. He was taken to Orange Police Station and charged with recklessly inflict grievous bodily harm and refused bail to appear in Orange Local Court today (Monday 27 January 2014).
