A man is assisting with inquiries after a woman died when she was hit by a car in Yagoona last night. About 7.20pm yesterday (Thursday 3 July 2014), emergency services were called to the Hume Highway at Yagoona near the intersection with Cooper Road. A female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and could not be revived by Ambulance Paramedics. Bankstown Local Area Command and Metropolitan Crash Investigators attended the incident and commenced an investigation. About 1.45am today (Friday 4 July 2014) a 20-year-old Guildford man attended Granville Police Station. He continues to assist crash investigators with their inquiries. Police are appealing for further information to locate a second car, described only as a blue/black two door sedan, was also on the roadway at the time of the collision. The woman also remains unidentified at this time. She is described as Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged between 40 and 50, with black fuzzy afro style hair. She was wearing a gold watch, a black and red knitted jumper, an orange and white knitted cardigan, dark grey tracksuit pants with two white side stripes, grey socks and black thongs. She was also carrying a set of keys on a coloured lanyard. Police are appealing for anyone with any information about the woman, car or were witnesses to the collision, and have not spoken to police, to contact the authorities.
