A man is facing court today (Sunday 9 March 2014) after alleged robberies at 13 fast food outlets across Sydney. Police from the Metropolitan Robbery Unit have formed Strike Force Kegit after fast food outlets were robbed at St Peters, Lidcombe, Ashfield, Smithfield, Bass Hill and Bexley. The robberies occurred between 5 February to 8 March 2014. On each occasion the robberies have involved staff being threatened with a screwdriver. About 5.50pm yesterday (Saturday 8 March 2014), it will be alleged a man drove a stolen car to a fast food outlet on The River Road, Revesby. Witnesses have told police a man jumped the counter and threatened staff. Two male customers challenged the man and struggled with him until police arrived During the struggle one of the customers sustained a minor wound to one of his wrists. A 31-year-old man was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station. He was charged with assault with intent to take/drive motor vehicle, take and drive conveyance without (x8), use an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention and robbery whilst armed with offensive weapon (x15). The 31-year-old was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.
