A man wielding an axe threatened staff during a robbery at a café in Salford. At 2pm on Thursday 23 October 2014, a man walked into a café on Walkden Road, Walkden and demanded money while brandishing the axe. He took cash from the till before walking across the road, towards Chestnut Road. No one was injured. The man is white, in his early 20s, 6ft tall, of slim build, had blue eyes, dark eyebrows, wore a dark blue zip up hooded top with a white zip, cords and toggles. He wore grey tracksuit bottoms, black/blue trainers and spoke with a local accent. Detective Constable Will Hardman said: Although no one was hurt, the sight of a man holding an axe in a threatening manner must have been terrifying for staff. We have been given a detailed description of the offender and I would ask anyone who saw him leaving the café to contact us. Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 5097 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
