A man will appear in court today charged over the attempted robbery of a hotel in Randwick yesterday. Police will allege two men entered a hotel on Frenchmans Road about 11.10am (Monday 8 September, 2014), with their faces covered. The pair made demands for money but were chased from the hotel by a staff member. An investigation was commenced by detectives from Eastern Beaches resulting in the arrest of a 41-year-old man in a unit on Marks Street, Randwick, not long after the robbery occurred. The man was taken to Maroubra Police Station where further inquires were made. About 5.15pm (Monday 8 September, 2014) officers executed a search warrant of the man’s unit in Bligh Place, Randwick, where police will allege they located items of clothing, cable ties, and an amount of methamphetamine with an estimated potential street value of $100 000. He was then charged with robbery in company and supplying commercial quantity of prohibited drug. He has been refused bail and will appear in Waverley Local Court today (Tuesday 9 September, 2014).
