A man’s ghairah for his wife should be balanced, being neither - TopicsExpress

A man’s ghairah for his wife should be balanced, being neither excessive nor deficient. His zeal and sense of honor should make him diligent in guarding over his wife, not allowing her to stray in small matters that can soon become serious problems. Hence he must make certain that she lives within the boundaries of the Shariah; after all, as guardian and protector, he is responsible for saving not only himself from the Hell-fire, but his family as well. That being said, he should not be excessive in his zeal (Ghairah), to the degree that he is constantly suspicious of his wife without just cause. It is not enough that she seems righteous on the outside; he feels the need to spy on her in order to find out about her true reality. If he does not have just cause for being suspicious, then his suspicion and spying are forbidden upon him. Allah (SWT) said: “O you who believe! Avoid much suspicions, indeed some suspicions are sins. And spy not.” (Quran 49:12)
