A message from Juba, South Sudan Just to let you know that we at CCC are safe. This morning was a repetition of what happened on the 15th of December 2015. At about 9.00 am this morning there was a sudden eruption of loud gunfire. The girls were in school so we rushed there to bring them back to the compound. Emma, Regina and Gloria who attend attending Vocational Training at Lologo, were caught up in the fire but they were not hurt. They were quite shaken when the arrived home. The shops and the market were closed, streets filled with military personnel and vehicles. Our centre is located in an area of no interest to the conflict so we were safe. I called my husband to tell him of the loud explosions. He said he did not hear it because a loud generator was too loud at their office. Wim came back home within minutes. Meetings and operations were postponed, phone networks disconnected. We just sat and waited, we had no idea what was happening. Then this was posted on Facebook bbc/news/world-africa-26446181. The gunfire intensified and by midday all the CCC staff had gone home to be with their families. We spent the day today on the internet. There were no cars coming in or leaving Juba. We here there were many casualties. MSF and Red Cross were allowed to attend to the dead and injured. Then the evening and darkness came. Hai mission is fine but sustained gunfire is raging in Munuki, Gudele, Mia O Saba, and Tonmping. We are hearing a bit of it because it is absolutely quiet in Juba now. Every body is at home in the right place. The children have have gone to bed and it is quiet here at Hai Mission. Pray for those who are in distress and going through tribulations right now. We do not know what is going on.
