A message from Lee Countys Superintendent. Just Breath. Well get through this. A message from TNT: Teaching Not Testing: Teachers, this was not a death. Your days have just opened into a brand new day! You are now free to teach your students without the constraints of teaching to the test. You are free to confirm that each child has mastered a lesson before you need to race on to cover the material that they will be tested on. You are free to engage your students so that they develop a love of learning - like you possess. Remember why you wanted to be a teacher? You now have the opportunity to fulfill that dream! Just breath. Your salary will now be based on your evaluation as a professional educator, not on the scores of your students. Your salary will not be based on a test that is predicted to have a 70% failure rate this year! Your students are guaranteed a standard diploma if they learn their studies, pass your assessments, and fulfill the requirement of passing the ACT or SAT. Our graduation rate this year will exceed the meager 71% that the district has boasted for the last many many years. Best of all, your students will smile and grow and learn without the harness of these tests holding them back. They might even get recess when they are young! They might experience some social time between classes where they can experience how to interact in our society. Some will graduate with stories of the best days of their lives rather than horror stories of tests that denied them their self esteem and a diploma. A few that you now have the time to get to know, might even call you in 10 or 20 years to thank you for changing and influencing their lives. Breath, savor, and live this moment fully. Our schools now have the opportunity to offer a real world class education for our children! We can now offer our students an environment where they can thrive! https://youtube/watch?v=EAuhjyZoki0&feature=youtube_gdata_player
