A message from the Tay Landscape Partnership: taylp.org/ Errol Reed Bed Path, Have Your Say (e-mail contact details at bottom) The Tay Landscape Partnership are looking into adding to the path along the river from Errol to Port Allen. Please take a look at our proposals and let us know what you think. Along the path, we would like to add interpretation boards, to tell people a bit more about the landscape, habitat and history around them and what wildlife they might see on their walk. We would also like to provide naturalistic seating, so they can stop and enjoy the environment. At the east end of the path, we would like to add a wooden screen, with cut out shapes at different heights to look through, so people can view the reed bed without disturbing the breeding birds it is so important for. In the village, there could be an interpretation panel telling people about the village, the clay building heritage of the area, the landscape and the wildlife, as well as guiding people onto the local path network and to local amenities like the community garden and shops, cafes and other local businesses. The obvious place for this would be near the cross, but to avoid “signpost clutter” we could add a panel to the existing community notice board, or help redesign and replace this notice board. There are a couple of short sections of path that tend to be quite muddy, and we propose to add some aggregate or put in a small cross drain to prevent the water collecting on the path surface. We don’t propose to alter the natural, woodland feel of the path. We could also add one or two signposts or way-markers, to complete the signposting that has already been done. We would be very interested to know what you think of these proposals. Which bits do you like, which bits don’t you like? Is there something we haven’t mentioned that you think we should consider? Please pass your comments to Catriona Davies, tel: 01738 475 379, email: [email protected]. We will also be consulting with the land owner, Scottish Natural Heritage and RSPB. Attached should be a map with proposals marked.
