A mile into the beautiful year 2015, the confusion around the - TopicsExpress

A mile into the beautiful year 2015, the confusion around the motherland still haunts the citizen. Everyone is living in fear, utter confusion. To my brothers and a bit of big sisters who like socializing on bridges to much, their life is revolving around recklessness, futility, destitution. Give them a bottle of bear, try to appease them with cigarettes and they find meaning in life. They dont even worry about tomorrow. However, the average citizen is fettered by poverty. The new year was just but a change of numbers. Everything else remains the same. Dictatorship, corruption, hero-worshiping, factionalism, partisan politics are refusing to be things of the past. Equal resistance comes from ZINWA and ZESA. They will never be accountable unless otherwise. But this month we, for once will temporarily, effectively kiss goodbye to political debates. We will focus our energy and time on events in Equatorial Guinea. For almost a month we will be talking, walking, eating, bathing, bedding soccer. It is going to be all about African pride, not the one you are indoctrinated with and always watch on ZTV. IT is going to be the pride of Algeria, Bekina Faso, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, South Africa: to name, just a few. The question, however, is: who is going to be the Champion of Africa? Who will shine in the absence of Pharaoh s sons? Who will dispossess the Super Eagles of their title as defending champions? Is it the Elephants? MANY are placing their money on Yaya Toure, the 4 time African Footballer of the Year? He will be assisted by Zokora, Kalou, Kolo his brother. Dont forget his dangerous Manchester City teammate, Wilfred Bony. Together they can make it. Ridiculous as it may sound, Gervhinho, am sure, will spoil their hardwork. He can dribble all opponents and still fail to score. No wonder Arsene Wenger banished him at the Emirates. Adding sault to the Elephants wounds is the absence of the Man himself, Didier Drobga. Those strong headers will be missing. There is also the Black Stars of Ghana. In Husband they can go beyond the extra mile. Remember, 5 years ago how they tormented Uruguay even in the presence of a bite threatening Suarez. The team will be Gyan, Atsu, the Ayew maestro. Lacking in this however is the ever black Sulley Muntari, the energetic Essein and the brilliant Boateng. Had they been part of the squad, no doubt you were going to cherish them. These two teams, to me looks favourites. The South Africans lack experience. Bekina Faso cannot cruise on Bance alone. But there is this Slimani from somewhere in Africa. Should he decide to come to the party, then count him and consider him a competitor. It is going to be a period of joy and celebration. It is a period where the citizens will be free from the propaganda and political ills of the status quo. It is a period where we are going to be free from this ghost terrorizing us. It is time we will shift focus from politics, EBOLA and Boko Haram to soccer. Till February 8, 2015!!!
