A minutes silence for Rusty before a great game vs Cannock Hockey - TopicsExpress

A minutes silence for Rusty before a great game vs Cannock Hockey Club last night. A huge thank you to the Cannock lads for marking the passing of Keith with us, a credit to their club. A gorgeous summer sun presided over a high-tempo, exciting match which eventually finished 8-2 to Drayton. Ed and Alfie both netted hat-tricks with Paddy pinching the other 2 goals. The scoreline hardly did Cannock credit, with their quality of possession and sharp movement not reflected by the score-line in the slightest. We know Keith would have been delighted to see the abundance of up and coming talent on display. The fact that 21 of the players on the pitch were under the age of 25, really shows how Keith and others like him have helped encourage young people to participate in the sport. It was also fantastic to see Paul Ruscoe and Andy Middleton turn out to support, two MDHC stalwarts watching the next generation really shows the longevity of Keiths legacy to the club. The match highlight had to be the umpire disallowing James Coggins a wonder-strike of the quality youll be lucky to see once in a career, something Im sure Keith (amongst others!) would have delighted in ribbing him for mercilessly in the bar afterwards. Dont worry Cogs, Im sure theres another 15yd, in-off-the-bar volley in there somewhere! A spectacular evening, fascinating game and plenty of fun had by all. That ones for you Rusty.
