A model home of public disaster housing has opened on Oct. 2, welcoming future-residents and visitors to take a look. The model home has three individual rooms plus a room for living, dining and kitchen (this is referred to as 3LDK in Japan). It is a detached house planned by a company network consisting of 93 builders in and out of Kesennuma. The network will build 820 of the 2,200 houses that are part of the city’s plan. The houses will be detached and in rows in a designated part of the city. Information and consultation for house-rebuilding and funding is provided at the site as well, open 365 days from 10am to 4pm.
