A momentous event this morning around 6:30am CST. My 1996 Jeep Cherokee "Betsy" reached 300,000 miles. 4 cylinder, 5 on the floor and two wheel drive companion has been with me for 17 years. Wow!!! what service you have bestowed upon me! I truly salute your endurance, your ability to put up with me, countless hours of me sitting, driving, talking on the phone, eating fast food, drinking various coffee, cokes, water, iced tea and an occasional beer on the open road. oh- yea- 5 fender benders. You have suffered from 20 below zero to perhaps 120 degrees above zero. Countless oil changes= perhaps 90 to 100-(I have been faithful in treating you heart with fresh oil). 3 radiators, 6 serpentine belts, how many tires? 2 new starters, lots of new hoses, headlights, signal lights, sparkplugs and wires. You were there through grade school, mid school, high school and a college graduation(one more on the way) with my kids. Countless boy scout campouts, band trips and journeys around texas, new mexico and Colorado. I Finished paying you off 11 years ago. With the money I saved on not having a car payment-hm? paid on two cars for my kids cars and all the insurance for all our cars. Currently- you have two doors broken, no ac, a front wind shield that looks like a spider web with all the cracks on it, no hydraulic fluid to lift the back compartment door(I use a broom stick to hold it open to load things) 4 used tires that I bought in Colorado a year ago- and still going. your noise makes drive through attendants ask twice about what I have ordered. My dogs and family refuse to get in you-who cares!!! your the best damned investment I have made in my life and have saved me thousands of dollars!!!!- Getting teary eyed here. Thank you! and looking forward to hopefully more years in being with you!
