A month of NaNoWriMo and some writing ruminations begins - TopicsExpress

A month of NaNoWriMo and some writing ruminations begins today! Beginnings: They dont have to begin at the beginning for you as a writer. Your first words can wind up on page 200 if you want. Write the climactic fight scene if thats what works for you. Write the end, or a scene in the middle. Some people are very linear (and thats cool) but some folks, like moi, are able to jump around from scene to scene and then stitch it together later. If youre one of those people, dont let a linear mindset slow you down! You gotta be productive every day and go where the gravy is. Write the scenes that are clamoring to be written now. The bits youre stuck on will percolate in your subconscious as you fill the rest in. Right now Im working on an Iron Druid short story. I have the beginning and the ending written. I have some middle bits. But I have three major scenes to write in the middle. And theyre marked like so, with brackets: [Introduce That One Guy to Atticus here] and [OOOHH DAAAANG he got shanked harrrrrrd] and [Zap pow ker-biff, Atticus vs. That Summoned Thing] Going to try to take care of two of those brackets today and the third tomorrow. When its done nobody will have any idea (or care) in which order I wrote the words. I just have to be productive every day & not get stuck. SO LETS DO THIS! 1,667 words or more! WOOHOO!
