A motorcyclist has been critically injured in a crash in Wollongong’s northern suburbs. About 11.15am today (Saturday 19 July 2014), emergency services were called to Lawrence Hargrave Drive, Austinmer. Police have been told a Kawasaki 1000 motorcycle was travelling north when it left the road near the intersection with The Grove and crashed into a pole. The impact caused the motorcycle to split in two. The 41-year-old male rider was taken to St George Hospital for treatment of multiple fractures, including a broken leg. He is reported to be in a critical condition. Police from Wollongong Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
