A mountain jewel: Tennessees newest state park to be located in the middle of Rocky Fork At almost 10,000 acres, the entire Rocky Fork tract is a microcosm of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park — a haven for native trout, salamanders and peregrine falcons, and prime breeding habitat for black bears. The 2,000-plus acres acquired by TDEC will be Tennessee’s 55th state park. Plans are to make it a low-impact facility with development limited to access roads, a welcome center, picnic area, campground and trails. Rocky Fork is located in upper Unicoi County.
