A muslim does not say about another muslim he is like my brother. He says he IS my brother. Our dear prophet Mohammed (pbuh) taught us not only to acknowledge, but also feel the pain of our fellow brothers and sisters. So when a muslim is happy the whole ummah is smiling with him, and when he griefs the whole Ummah is in tears. Notice that the whole ummah is, and not the whole Ummah are. The almighty, and most merciful Allah wants us to act as the one big family he created us to be. We are created to live with a primary sense of unity: “If anyone slays a person, it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.” (Quran 5:32) Our Ummah is like a puzzle; as long as we dont react to the oppression of our fellow brothers and sisters, as long as we go to bed with a clear concience, it will not be complete and there will be no peace. (I posted this here, just because I wanted to spread a message, and emphasize its significance for more muslims. This is a concern for the whole Ummah!
