A must read: David Haydn-Jones was born in the northern wilds of Saskatchewan, Canada to a Welsh Father and an American Mother. It would prove to be an eclectic genesis that would color the rest of his career. Haydn-Jones performed from a young age at music festivals and community theatre plays, then later, singing and dancing during his high school summers at various amusement parks. It wasn’t until he moved to Montreal to study architecture and engineering that the acting bug took full root. Haydn-Jones crafted a Theatre minor in conjunction with his Architecture major, performing in drama festivals, major English department productions such as Tartuffe and Ten Lost Years, and performing weekly in the student union pub with his comedy troupe, The Place Walbrae Players. After graduation from college and a stint as a singing park ranger in the foothills of Kananaskis Country, Alberta, Haydn-Jones moved to Toronto to begin his acting career in earnest. He formed the popular and local favorite, comedy duo Joke Boy, landed dozens of national commercials, and understudied the lead roles in the Canadian Stage premiere of Angels in America, Parts I & II. It was a couple of years of invaluable study for the burgeoning actor, and after a number of supporting TV roles he garnered attention from the American Networks after a particularly successful run at the world famous Montreal Just for Laughs comedy festival. After relocating to Los Angeles, Haydn-Jones worked on such shows as NCIS, King of Queens, Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. While working on these various projects, Haydn-Jones continued to hone his talents with the acclaimed Los Angeles theatre company, Theatre Tribe. Bigger roles and more high profile projects were to follow as Haydn-Jones landed the lead in the critically acclaimed CBC dramedy, Rumours. A supporting role in the feature The Last Kiss (Zach Braff, Casey Affleck) and follow up leads in the Lifetime TV movies Fatal Trust (opposite Amy Jo Johnson) and Secrets of the Summer House (opposite Lindsay Price) began to raise Haydn-Jones’ profile. Haydn-Jones continued to build career momentum with powerful projects and stellar fellow actors in the Emmy®-Award nominated Taken from Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story (Taraji P. Henson, Terry O’Quinn) on Lifetime and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior (Forrest Whittaker, Janeane Garofalo) on CBS. Haydn-Jones also reveled in the opportunity to return to his sketch comedy roots, playing as a series regular in the wonderful world of Debra! for Canada’s Family Channel. The past year offered even more success for Haydn-Jones as he starred opposite Amy Acker in Lifetime’s heartfelt and surprise Christmas hit, Dear Santa. He also shot a pilot for CBC called Layla and Jen (a half hour comedy) and landed a supporting role in his biggest movie to date, White House Down starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx. All of this has led to his exciting appearance in the Lifetime thriller starring opposite Sarah Carter: The Toyman Killer, and a guest starring role in the popular ABC series, Modern Family.
