A must see- Screening and Panel Discussion of Harvest of Empire: The Untold Story of Latinos in America Executive Office Building Lobby Auditorium 101 Monroe St, Rockville, MD 20850 Tuesday, October 7, 2014 3:00 p.m. In commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Latin American Advisory Group to County Executive Ike Leggett and the Latino Health Steering Committee of Montgomery County are pleased to invite you to a free screening of the award-winning documentary, Harvest of Empire. Based on a book by journalist Juan Gonzalez, the film takes a look at the role the United States Government actions played in the unprecedented surge of migration from Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America leading to the growing Latino presence in the United States. Remarks will be provided by County Executive Ike Leggett. Panelists will include Montgomery County Councilmember Nancy Navarro, the film’s co-director Eduardo López and University of Maryland Associate Professor Ana Patricia Rodriguez. Following the panel discussion, a musical performance will be provided along with some light refreshments. This event is free and open to the public.
