A new Orkney Triathlon Committee has been formed with the aim of encouraging more people to take part in the sport. Orkney has a good tradition of success in Triathlon, winning medals at the last two island games where the discipline has been held. But that success has masked the fact that the sport has a very small nucleus of members locally. The new committee wants to try some smaller events to allow people to have a go. The first will see a Mini Triathlon in Stromness a week on Sunday, with monthly events planned until September.
