A new checklist for today, things that you should ask the doctor when being given a new prescription. - What am I taking this medication for? (It seems basic, but the number of people who give me blank stares or, I dont know when I ask what theyre taking a medication for makes this necessary.) - Will this interact with any of my other medications/conditions? (This will help avoid potentially dangerous interactions and frustrations of having to change the medication later) - Is this a brand name medication or a generic alternative? (Generics cost lost, but some people prefer brands) - Is there any special regulations regarding this medication? (Some may require that you bring a written script to the pharmacy, or may require special paperwork or verification before being able to be filled) - Did this medication just become available, or is this an older medication? (Insurances are often wary of new medication, and may require a higher co-pay or authorization from the doctor before being approved.)
