A new day and a new task force. This one to study community - TopicsExpress

A new day and a new task force. This one to study community housing. I may be suffering from deja vu, but I believe this subject has been broached before. We have already had committees and task forces and studies done on this portfolio yet nothing is ever accomplished. I will offer up some wisdom that doesnt need a task force. First off, sell off some properties. Many of the single detached homes that are currently in the portfolio are worth close to or over $1,000,000. That there is a goldmine sell them. Lets next talk basic maintenance. There is no need for a city employee to change a light bulb, or paint a room for that matter. At the age of about 10 I knew all about fuses, including what amps went where and for what, that was back in the day when we didnt have breakers. I was taught to paint and wallpaper. I was a master with a drill and saw. I put together a gas bbq at the age of 12. I have repaired my dishwasher, albeit temporarily but fixed none the less. I have crawled up on the roof to fix shingles that have blown off. I do that in the name of pride of ownership. Maybe it is time that people who live in community housing take some responsibility for what they have. People who want a house from Habitat for Humanity work for what they want. Maybe TCH could fund a similar model. By the way, the above remarks exclude seniors and the disabled gobalnews.ca/news/1776313/mayor-tory-to-make-an-announcement-on-housing-today/
