A new study due out later this year will look at the factors which shape public opinions of, and trust in, not-for-profits. Dr Craig Ferneaux - a senior research fellow at Queensland University of Technologys Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Non-Profit Studies (ACPNS) - will work with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) on the study. The research will use data and statistics commissioned by the ACNC, with ACPNS saying it will focus on two main areas: • Understanding if factors like reputation, familiarity, and transparency of reporting, along with a number of other factors, results in public trust in not-for-profits. • Understanding whether such trust translates into volunteering and giving. The project is expected to be completed late this year.
