A nice little Easter dinner last night with Jase. I have this tendency to look at food through the eyes of my memory. Easter was a simple roasted chicken breast with a pan gravy and rutabagas mashed with white potatoes and a wedge salad. The rutabagas were the memory this year. My great grandmother would always get them onto the table for almost every holiday. While most grew up never tasting these roots I lived for them. They were the highlight of the year. Now I try to sneak them in when I can. Just to diversify the table and warm it with a memory.
