A note about my desire to not interview anyone from The Biggest Loser. Thats not completely true. Id actually love to interview lots of people from that show, including the producers and the behind the scenes doctors and RDs, along with Jillian and Bob, for an in-depth investigative piece so I could ask them all some really tough questions about what they do, why, and what kind of impact they believe it has on the contestants and society at large. Perhaps one day that piece will happen. I think Ill have tough time getting anyone from TBL to talk to me about such a piece, however. When I say I dont want to interview anyone from the show, its because Im getting pitched one of the trainers or the host as a celebrity fitness profile (this has happened four times now). These are not what I would call investigative pieces, and Im not asking tough question like Im Barbara Walters saying, Tell me about that time you plowed your Ferrari into a pack of homeless puppies while you were snorting blow off the dashboard. No, the intention of such pieces are inspirational, and so I am careful about which celebrities I choose to interview. I wont permit my writing to be a vehicle for bad information or immoral weight loss practices.
