A number of the kids sang the same song, ( I am but a small voice - akoy munting tinig), drew and explained similar themes, and danced various folk dances at the recent Aklan Provincial Childrens Congress where I gladly served as a member of the judging panel, but the entire proceedings were far from boring: the kids (whose average age was 4) were all remarkable, were never stage-conscious and just enjoyed themselves in the art and culture category they chose, in contrast to their stage parents and elders who were all tensed and anxious as their wards mounted the stage. No wonder the Lord Jesus ordered His disciples to let the children come to Him, giving them preferential access to His Kingdom. One touching moment : a kid tugged at my hand and when I looked down, the little boy smiled and said: thank you and then went down the stage, grinning from ear to ear as he carried his gift pack. Truly, there are so many things more precious in this world than material wealth.
