A one-time deputy governor of Bauchi State, Usman Shehu Wunti, is dead. A statement signed by the press secretary to the Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Abubakar Aliyu Wunti, said Wunti died in Cairo, Egypt, after a protracted illness. He is survived by his wife, four children, brothers and sisters. According to the statement, the late Shehu Wunti served in both federal and state Civil Service. He was a one time Deputy Governor of Bauchi and also a one time Federal Commissioner of Transport and chairman NYSC Board. The statement stated that Shehu Wunti was chairman and chief executive officer of Cubits Nigeria Limited and a member of Bauchi State Elders’ Advisory Committee before his death. He was honoured with Officer of the Federal Republic. He has since been buried according to Islamic rites in Cairo.
