A parent asks our group: HELP!!!!!! I havent posted in quite a while because our journey has twisted and turned in so many unexpected ways I am overwhelmed. My 5 year old was diagnosed severe AD HD with sensory sensitivities, about a year ago. After 2 years of fighting the idea of meds we decided to keep an open mind and try it out... it made him aggressive and self harmful. I took him off, then they tried zoloft liquid form to help with the constant melt downs to slinkies, yoyos, baloons, punch balls, stretchy toys, slimy toy etc. And it did the reverse affect. He stopped sleeping! One night he LEFT OUR HOME AT 1030 when we were all fast asleep.... he even took a house key with him! Luckily he was returned by a neighbor (who later posted on a local social media page informing ppl of my bad parenting) so I took him off the zoloft then we decided to go with out meds to see the difference we could get from that point on. After the medication had fully left his system he began sleeping normally again, then he began sleeping A LOT more than normal. He started regressing in strange ways. Peeing his pants, peeing in his room, biting himself, lying constantly, becoming violent to his toddler sister, stealing candy bars from the store and just recently tried to drown my kitten in the toilet. When I talked to him about it he seemed in different. I of course have made the appointment with his Dr and am going in to see her weds but in the meantime.... is there anyone out there with a small child going through or has gone through similar? I am at a loss and feel like a failing mother... I just want to help and have NO IDEA HOW.
